Well, this isn't such a journal as it is a mixture of a number of journalistic things.
The Tag<dever1n> tagged me, dammit. Apparentely I have to write 10 'unknown' facts about myself.
1. I always read magazines back to front. Don't know why -- I guess because all the good stuff seems to be in the back.
2. I am quite a sensitive person. That, coupled with the fact I don't have a girlfriend, leads many to the mistaken conclusion that I must be gay.
3. Have you ever seen Stranger Than Fiction? I'm a lot like Harold Crick--with his counting habits, that is. I count everything, when I can. But I don't tell anyone
Dustin Hoffman: "Did you have enough time to count the stairs as we walked down?"
Will Ferrel: "I wasn't counting the stairs."
Dustin Hoffman: "Course not."
haha lol
4. I have very expensive taste, so I get really excited when I see something that's cheap that I like. When I was in Queensland, I left with $1100 and by the second last day asked (begged) my brother to send me $50 via EFT. It's a good thing I bought that wool/angora jacket when I got off the plane, because otherwise I *WOULD* have walked out of Hugo Boss the next day with a bag or two of designer goodness. I also really love fashion (looking at mens and very much also womens) in general, interior design, and all sorts of things I'm not supposed to haha
5. Someone I work with with bought this hair magazine of all different styles and what not.. and yes, I enjoyed looking at it..
6. I hate weddings. Even though I've photographed 3 and whatever, I really don't like the things. After the last one I went to I mentioned it to someone at work (the one spoken of below), and she's like "That's because you're jealous!". I thought about that, and was like, "oh, yeah!". Wow, I'm jealous.
7. In real-life conversation, (depending on who I'm talking to) I often will say some ultra-controversial questions--just sarcastically, even though they're quite often true--and I do of course welcome them in return. I just hate blurting something out to the wrong person. lol
8. I never get sick. In the 3 years I've been working, I've only been sick twice. One of those times was 2 years ago, when someone at work had the flu, and had an icee sitting out the back. I walked out and went "ooo, icee!" and consequently got sick.
9. Because of the coffee-related stereotypes that abound in today's society, such as 'cappacino' or 'latte', I can never bring myself to ask for such things. Hearing the words just irritates me so much that I always ask for either a flat white (with caramel mmm) or a black tea. Take that.
10. I hearby promise never to ever say anything bad about Red Hot Chilli Peppers again (that's what got me tagged in the first place). Even if I'm having a conversation with someone and they say one of their songs sucks, I'll just say, "well, Californication is definitely better". READING THIS, ERIN!?
I was also going to put an extra point down the bottom here about that strange pain that I had going on in my pants last week all of a sudden when I was walking, but considered it slightly.. well, some things are best left unknown
I tag <iconzeyus> !!! Welcome back, Luke
The leavingOne of the girls I work with has left for another job in PR
That's really sad because she's been there since I started, and we've become really good friends. I went over to her house last week and spent some time there so that was cool.
The good news is that she's being replaced by her boyfriend.. and unlike every other boyfriend in the world, this guy is really great. He's actually 27, and she's 21. Bit of a difference, but you would think she's 25 anyway..
The jazzI've discovered Melody Gardot. Oh my.. I love my jazz, and haven't been this excited about a jazz artist since I saw Diana Krall's
Live in Paris DVD
She is absolutely wonderful. Very proper jazz, which just reeks of cool--proper, 1930's Manhattan cool. Yeah...
The instruments are not unlike Elixir (on the opening tracks), while she is as original as Josephine Baker and as musically precise as Ella.. well, almost. No one matches up to her.
The best part about the whole venture is that none of the songs have that mainstream "Don't know Why" appeal, which is great, because that means she'll never be overplayed, and if she goes down the same crappy path that Norah Jones has, no one will be disappointed because they never would have heard of her in the first place.
The other thinger1n, again:
